Bridging between realism and abstract painting, her evocative paintings capture the wild beauty of the Scottish wilderness with a skill and talent few possess. Her ability to paint and capture the movement of water is simply breath-taking and has deservedly garnered critical acclaim.
Beth eschews the more traditional bright and colourful vistas to create compositions unique to her - broader panoramas and mountains are combined with focussed pieces on specific elements and detail within the wild terrains she is so drawn to.
This approach allows Beth to fully accentuate details within her subject matter - a dynamic interplay of colour and texture with layer upon layer of paint is used to convey eroded rocks, crashing frenzied waves and sea foam, or polished stones serenely resting at the bottom of crystal clear rockpools.
Painting water is notoriously difficult yet Beth's exceptional talent and over 20 years of professional practice honing her craft means she has the ability to translate movement, transparency and reflection flawlessly.
In a new Solo Exhibition of landscapes and seascapes, Beth revisits some of her favourite locations from the Highlands and beyond, looking at them with a fresh and critical eye and adding years of painting experience.
