Sheila Fowler

With a lifelong passion for drawing and painting, Sheila began marketing her work professionally in 2007 after completing two years of study at Glasgow School of Art. She currently lives and works from her studio on the south side of Glasgow.

Sheila's love of strong vibrant colours and bold texture is depicted within her painting. She enjoys portraying the Scottish landscape and beyond, focussing on the colours and patterns in nature. Particularly drawn to the Hebridean Islands for inspiration, her work captures the spectacular beaches of the islands with beautiful turquoise seas, colourful rocky coastlines and machair and little cottages.

Her fondness for flowers also inspires her to paint vivid floral works in an impasto style, whether it be wildflowers out in the natural world or still life compositions.

Sheila creates her paintings from photographs taken from her field trips back in her studio and she works to capture the essence and feelings of each scene.

She prefers painting in oils as they allow her to work with the paint and blend it to create the texture she loves.
