Tim's interest in custom-built furniture comes from generations of craftsmanship, stretching as far back as his great-grandfather at the turn of the last century.
Since then Tim's father set up the first Scottish Hardwood Charter in Glasgow; making Tim the fourth generation of his family to work with Hardwoods.
Between 2000 and 2006 Tim based his work at The Woodschool near Jedburgh, and has since joined the workshops of The Galgael Trust in Glasgow. There he continues to design and make his own furniture, as well as assisting with Galgael projects.
"There seem[s] no better way of celebrating the life of a 200 year old tree than shaping and crafting a piece of contemporary furniture from it's trunk, giving a family another 200 years of enjoyment ...
Handmade bespoke furniture plays an important role in sustaining traditional craftsmanship in today's world.
Wood is an amazingly tactile material, enhancing the form of functional design where generations can indulge themselves in 'antiques for the future'."
